Where Have We Been?

Since the Mt. Baker post, we haven't had Wi-Fi,  so I haven't been able to post!  But, our travels have been awesome!  First, I have to mention the weather.  We feel like we have skipped summer.  Since Whidbey Island in mid-May to our latest adventures in the Olympic Peninsula,  we have eluded heat and humidity.  It's been really gorgeous!

We arrived in the Olympic Peninsula on July 26 and found the Heart 'o the Hills campground in the Olympic National Park.  We stayed seven nights in this pretty, forested campground.  It was raining when we arrived,  but by the next day it was sunny!

We attended a ranger talk one evening, but the real highlight was Hurricane Ridge, a 12 mile windy road.  Our elevation there was 5200' and the views of the Olympic Range and Mt. Olympus were fantastic!  A doe also meandered around the visitor center, so sweet!  She let folks approach to take photos!

On August 3, we headed west, still on the OP, on route 101. This is a curvy two lane road through gorgeous forest.  We went by Crescent Lake which was beautiful!

We stopped at Fairholme campground, but it was crowded and full.  This was actually a good omen as it led us to the next campground, Klahowya, in the National Forest.  this campground was spacious and lush green, and quiet.  A nearby trail led to the Sol Duc river, where we sat and loved the clear, cool water.

We took a ride over to Rialto Beach First Beach.  But this story and more will have to wait.  We are near Snoqualmie pass, outside a restaurant to get WI-FI since our current free camping site has no WI-FI or cell service.  So, i will be back blogging in about 10 days!

Be well!
